Met up with family here for Sunday lunch. The satff here are friendly and approachable and made us feel so very welcome. The food met all expectations and was delicious. Our party of 4 all agreed we would revisit here again, as it's a good meeting place for us to meet and come together, to enjoy family time. Would highly recommend this location. Table booked under the name of Richards.

Wow, so glad we found this little gem of a place. From the minute we stepped through the door we recieved a warm welcome. By the time we left we felt like old friends! The whole team were amazing, friendly & funny. The food was as amazing. Our experience was so good we went back the following evening and will return again & again. Would highly recommend to everyone. Thank you guys..keep up the great work & stay safe... 🙂....and gutted we missed Harry on our 2nd visit, we did try and find the bp garage !!!!

The SatNav sent us on the wrong road, but we turned in to the Kilkeney carpark and thought we'd stop for lunch. What a nice place, loved the garden area. We had sandwiches, chips and a salad between the three of us and they were very good. My beetroot and hazelnut salad was lovely - just wish there were more vegetarian or vegan items on the menu. If we're in the area in the future, we will certainly stop for lunch again.

I'm never having chicken kiev again unless it's from the Kilkeney Inn. Ate here twice over the past week whilst on holiday and the food was incredible. Everything tastes fresh and I can easily say the best pub food I've ever had. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend

We have had takeaways three times in the past few months and I have to say that every one has been excellent. Last Sunday we had very tender beef, lovely Cajun chicken and superb Thai prawn curry and all three dishes were delicious. Very friendly staff and efficient service along with reasonable prices make it a pleasure. Well done all of you at Kilkeney Inn, keep up the good work - we shall be back !

We met up with my sister and brother in law after 19 months to have lunch on Saturday the 19th June 2021. We had a fantastic lunch where the food was exempilary. The fish was the freshest I'd tasted in years and all the small dishes of relihes were freshly made and deliceious. The restaurant was clean and co vid secure. The staff were charming polite and friendly. A truely wonderful meal in a lovelt setting to celebrate our re union ! Thank you so much to Jules and Kev and all the staff!

Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely takeaway meal tonight - we have never been disappointed with the food you serve. We did miss the ambience of your conservatory and the excellent service we always receive when we dine with you but under the current circumstances being able to eat your excellent cuisine in our own home was just as lovely.
Thank you for providing this excellent service during very difficult times - it was a ray of sunshine for us. Rest assured we will be back soon.
Stay safe
Best wishes

4/4/18. A nice (birthday) lunch. Like others we had not been here for many years due to its previous decline. The new owners have done a great job with a fantastic menu and decor. We had a side order of garlic bread to share to nibble on whilst we waited for our main courses, although this was a side item it was no problem for us to have it as a mini sharing starter. We had the fishcakes and the bean tagine. Both of which were lovely. The fishcakes were moist with plenty of fish and the tagine was the right amount of spiciness without being Overpowering. We like to find nice places to eat and this is on a par with others elsewhere in the county such as the Ragged Cot, Old Lodge and Fostons Ash. We will be back And wish you every success.

My husband and I have passed the Kilkeney Inn on many occasions, promising ourselves we would give it a try one day. We popped in early on Saturday evening. The food and service did not disappoint. We had delicious mussels to start. The mussels were plump and cooked to perfection. I had the ham hock for my main and again the presentation and taste was fabulous. I arrived home to find I had only one glove. I immediately rang the pub and a lovely young lady called Sophie said she would check the car park and call me back. Bearing in mind it was very dark by now. She called me back within 10 minutes to say that she had found it and would pop it behind the bar with my name on it. We will definitely be recommending the Kilkeney Inn to friends and plan to take family members for future meals there.

We met our son here for lunch as he lives in Cheltenham. Great choices including veg options. The stout is recommended as is the house rosé by the glass. The conservatory is a nice setting for lunch and there are log fires as well in the old part of the building. Deserts are also great including lovely toffee sponge. Good friendly service.

We called in this buetiful Inn a few days ago on our way back home from Budapest, the M4 was closed on a certain junction so we were diverted off, all I can say is was a delight to come across such a lovely Inn, our intention was to have an evening meal but unfortunately we were too late. We settled for a filter coffee and a warm from the open log fire on a frosty evening. The two ladies at the inn were fantastic, they were friendly and eager to please, it was such a pleasure to visit this Inn and we will certainly be calling again on our way to London. As said we didn't dine but the Menue looked delicious, and the hospitality was second to none. can't wait to return, and thank you.

Visited for lunch with my husband .We haven’t visited the Kilkeney for a very long time .
We were delighted with changes the new owners have made .Lovely young efficient friendly staff .Cosy interior and seasonal delicious food .
Great choices of small plates/ starters and vegetarian dishes although meat eaters are well catered for
Beautiful autumnal views of the Cotswolds and all in all a great lunch and a good experience .

ecently dined here after a long absence. Have to say the food was out of this world. The steak cut like butter and to use the classic saying "melted in the mouth". The food combinations on the plate, dazzled the tongue and delighted the taste buds. It's a typically quaint country pub with real fires/burners, a lovely conservatory to the rear in which to dine as well as the older part of the building within the old pub itself. It offers good parking and good beer according to my friend. The attention to service was excellent and all in all, we felt cherished and valued as diners. Definitely won't be leaving it as long to eat there again!

-review by glorious99
I had a meal with my Mum and dad to thank them for putting me up for a few nights , neither are great ones for eating out but the relaxed friendly atmosphere and great staff made it a real treat.

we all chose different items from the new Autumn menu - all very happy with our choices - good seasonal dishes and plenty to choose from, and great value .

I would recommend the Kilkenny to anyone looking for an enjoyable night out in a real Cotswold pub with a warm welcome- look no further than the Kilkenny! .

We found the Kilkenny Inn by accident when we were lost on a walking trip, the staff were very helpful and warm. It was a very busy Sunday lunch time for them but they took the time to find where we were on our map and even taking us by car to a convenient point to continue our walk. We went back a couple of days later for an evening meal, the food was delicious and the service just as welcoming as we had already experienced. Would certainly recommend the Inn for its welcome, interesting menu and great service.

We have had 2 Sunday lunches and one evening meal at the Kilkenny and the food was super each time and the service good as well as friendly. Both the bar and conservatory are comfortable to eat in and the draught beers excellent. There is also a very good wine list. Last Friday we couldn't understand why it was nearly empty. It needs supporting because the Kilkenny really is good and reasonably priced

The staff in this Inn were a delight. They were so helpful with some queries we had at a lunchtime visit and the atmosphere was so good that we returned in the evening for a meal. The food choices were extremely varied and all of our meals when served, with really cheerful service, were delicious. This was excellent value for money, great location, plenty of parking and lovely food, what more could you ask for?

Called in for lunch as we had not visited for a couple of years (it had gone downhill) and met with the new owners. They are all very pleasant and welcoming. The food was very well prepared and tasty. Will definitely visit in the evening to try the evening menu

-review by Peter G
Staff were very attentive and friendly, providing excellent service. The ambience was relaxing and welcoming and the dining room overlooked a very pretty garden. The lunch menu was not extensive but offered plenty of variety. The food was delicious (we both had the fishcakes accompanied by top-quality chips) and we did not have to wait long. The House rose was very pleasant indeed, and not expensive.
This roadside inn, between Andoversford and Gloucester is a great place to break a journey and enjoy a meal that is excellent value for money.

We've passed this pub literally hundreds of times over the years but have never called in. We put that right recently by stopping for a drink. It's a lovely old building, but the terrace area at the rear is something else, beautiful terraced flower beds and pots giing us ideas for improvements in our own garden! Vrry friendly staff and owner, and we shall be back soon to sample the extensive menu in the lovely dining areas.

Popped in here today for lunch, we were not disappointed. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the food was amazing I had the fish cakes which were full of great tasting fish, topped off with great chips and veg. My partner had the burger which he said was great. We will be back very soon!

What a fab place near Cheltenham. Love the bowl of reading glasses, every restaurant should have one Thank you Harry for great service and your advice, the Indian spiced slow cooked chicken was just right, not spicy and sweet. Fab food. Fab surroundings. Fab decor. Fab gardens. An amazing menu, about right for the amount of choices. Nice to see not too many choices.

Hi Kilkeney,
I'd just like to say thank you for a wonderful meal. I came in last night by myself and had fishcakes. The young lady who served me seemed new and she was fantastic, with some training she'll be a fantastic hostess. The bar man offered me free refills on my coffee and I more than took advantage of this! The fishcakes were delightful. Perfectly seasoned with pepper and lemon, and there was plenty of fish, not just potato like you can get. I must firmly disagee with the negative review, the staff were lovely and spoke to me and made my evening enjoyable and my food was great. I can only assume you were having a bad day Brian J.
I would and will always recommend this place to anyone.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed with Julie and Kev at their wonderful Inn.

The room is like home from home. They cater for everything. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud (and I found myself checking out the pillow and duvet make as I stripped the bed off upon leaving... John Lewis will be receiving an order from us)

The service from the bar staff (Harry) was exceptional, (who mixes very nice Gin!!!) and our waiter (who's name I've forgotton I'm sorry!!!) Was so patient and we felt like we'd known them for years.

Julie and Kev were lovely and attentive. Was lovely just chatting to them throughout the evening. We were made to feel exceptionally welcome.

The food was out of this world. Everyone should try the chilli tiger prawns for starter, and if there is any, go for the chocolate tart for pudding...

We will be back again.. Thanks again for having us..

Excellent food, excellent service could not fault. The very friendly barman kept my coffee cup refilled which is something that I have never experienced in any other pub before. Very friendly and attentive staff. Exceptionally clean and very pleasant decor. Would definitely drive the approximate 100 miles from where we live to visit again.

Popped in on spec and was greeted with a pleasant welcome and yes we can have a table, no problem. Despite thinking we wanted a snack decided to have full meal and not disappointed.

Tasty spiced prawns followed by pork and chicken with cheesecake and coffee. All good and very friendly service.

We came across this lovely pub on the way home from a visit to Westbury water gardens. So glad we stopped here. The pub itself is very clean and nicely decorated. We sat in the conservatory to eat our delicious lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was beautifully presented. We had a salad starter.......roast beef main course which was lovely and hot and very good portions. My husband had a cheesecake dessert, and I had a pink grapefruit sorbet. We had a lovely view of the patio garden which is beautiful. All in all a great place, I would highly recommend

Jules and Ken @ The Kilkeney Inn recently catered for our team away day.

The venue and Kev's homemade food speak for themselves.

However, I do not think I have eaten out anywhere more accommodating than the Kilkeney Inn or met someone front house as helpful as Jules. They both did their utmost to make sure everything ran smoothly - Jules went the extra mile recommending other local places we could visit and do some activities.

Would really love to visit again. Highly recommend.

Friendly service and a varied menu greeted is when we arrived, on spec ,one Saturday lunchtime. Shortly after opening at 12 noon the place was buzzing with a wide range of ages and group sizes. Clearly this is a regular watering hole for the younger generation but also a reliable venue for family celebrations . On a very warm day the glass conservatory ,we were advised ,may be a little too warm so we could choose from the outside tables - front and rear - or the inside area . We chose the latter with a delightful view across the fields.
A glass of Macallan and a well chilled mineral water aided our menu perusal.
What the young staff lacked in knowledge ,they more than made up for with enthusiasm . We decided on a light meal of Chicken liver and pistachio parfait, toast (and chips!) as one main , and the fish cakes , hand cut chips and winter greens as another. The greens were a delightful surprise of asparagus, long stemmed broccoli spears, and greens perfectly cooked and deliciously fresh.
Filter coffee completed our meal. Cost £31 for a very pleasant, leisurely lunch. We had our own Sunday papers but plenty of reading matter was provided . This is a place where you are welcome, able to relax ,and where there is absolutely no pressure to eat up and leave. A delight.

We found the staff accommodating and friendly and the food was really good and plentiful.
We met here as a group of friends with two babies amongst the party, having pre booked.
It was an unseasonably sunny day but the pub told us they unfortunately didn't have enough staff to serve us outside. However, they were more than happy to leave us outside enjoying the sun whilst they took our order and brought us to the table when starters were ready.
At £18 for a two course Sunday lunch it's not a budget option, but we were more than happy with the quality for the price.
There was bread for the table and the starters were tasty- beetroot, egg, goats cheese and walnut salad was simple but really well put together.
The roast dinners were very plentiful, with a good portion of meat and more than enough veg.
Extremely good service too.

We booked a table for 6 on Mothering Sunday. Unfortunately 2 of the party got stuck on the motorway and were unable to join us on time. The landlady was happy for us just to sit at the table with drinks until such time as we knew what was happening. After about an hour we ordered when we realised the others were unable to make it. We are not usually a fan of carverys, but this was exceptional. We all had the beef, which was beautifully cooked, and the vegetables were of a high standard. Although we had had a starter - the pate, which was lovely - we could not manage a pudding, which was a shame, I think. As this is a convenient place to meet, hopefully we will manage to come again. A mention also to the waiting staff who were very eager to please and very friendly despite the lateness of our ordering. Many thanks.

Stayed here overnight whilst my husband was walking from Land End to John O'Groats. As you can imagine we've seen a lot of places, some good some not so. We enjoyed a very good ending meal and both had the goats cheese, mushroom and spinach pie. Proper cooked food and very tasty. He really knows how to cook. This was an exception and a joy to stay at. The double room had a big king size bed separate bathroom with huge shower and small extra seating area to relax in. Spotlessly clean with tasteful furninshings. Well above the average. The accommodation suited us
perfectly as all the breakfast things were provided in the accommodation itself. Not a cooked breakfast but plenty enough to satisfy anyone's needs without the need to leave the room. We were on our way again the next morning with minimum fuss. Thank you Jules, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend you.

We didn't have a booking on a Saturday evening but were shown directly to a table in the conservatory part of the restaurant where the evening sun was pouring in giving a nice atmosphere. We liked the look of everything on the menu which made it difficult to make a choice, my husband chose the pate for starters & the sweet chilli chicken with noodle for his main course, I had the chicken wrapped in pancetta & sticky toffee & strawberry brûlée for deserts & we weren't disappointed with any of our choices, service was polite & attentive & we were surprised by the bill being under £70 which included drinks. After dinner we sat in the bar area which overlooks rolling countryside ending a very enjoyable evening at the Kilkenny Inn. Next time we are in the area we will be revisiting & would not hesitate in recommending this gem to friends & family

Popped in on spec for a quick bar snack/lunch and was not disappointed. A burger that tasted as a burger should with an interesting, but enjoyable, "greenslaw" and some freshly cooked chips/potato slices. The lemon tart that followed was just right, tarte but tasty with a single scoop of vanilla ice cream which had a lovely creamy taste.

A very good impromptu lunch, a bit expensive, but well worth a visit - I will return!

Our daughter and family took us here to eat on Sunday. Had a lovely welcome by the landlady. Explained the table layout and how we could change it to our needs as long as they could get by to serve others. So helpful. Service for drinks was very prompt as was the ordering of food. The roast beef we had was lovely. Well prepared and well presented. There was a great list of puddings on a blackboard brought yo the table. We all enjoyed our main and puddings. Thank you for making the lunch so good. The pub itself is well maintained and very light and airy. If we lived locally I can see us being regulars. Well done staff and owners.

We went as a group of 5 Tuesday evening which included elderly mother with a small appetite. The chef at her request provided a smaller portion of fish and chips which was perfect for her. I recommend the salmon wrapped in sole. Lots of choice for all three courses if you have room!

Service was excellent and environment comfortable with log burners . I expect it's very busy at weekends and I saw a conservatory too. I recommend a visit

Funny thing is, we hadn't intended to eat here! We'd visited the Roman Villa at Chedworth then popped down the road to Withington, to find that their gas was not working. Back in the car, husband says didn't we pass another pub on the way? So here we are.

Both food and service were excellent. Children's portions for the 8-yr-olds were exactly right, and the preteen lad put away an enormous plate of battered cod. I had the fish cakes which were delicious. Children spent most of the meal.commenting wasn't it lucky the other place had no gas.

All in all a very happy accident and recommended if you are visiting Chedworth (which will let you back in after lunch).

Under new management and with a tasteful makeover, we recently visited the Kilkeney with a party of 19 for the Christmas menu. What a great experience. The staff were warm and friendly with prompt service for drinks. We were shown to our tables in the conservatory and the landlady made a note of everyone's name and placing. The service was very efficient and noting the names before service avoided the usual "what did I order for starters" confusion.

The quality of the food was excellent, all served promptly with generous helpings. We asked for extra vegetables and they were on the table within minutes. With 19 people around the table the atmosphere was great. It's a pity the word has not got round how good this place is, as this was reflected in the numbers in the pub that evening. We look forward to a return visit.

We recently visited whilst on holiday - the pub suggested by a 'local' who joined us as did another couple of 'local' friends.
The menu was innovative, the service was good and the atmosphere (no loud background music) conducive to catching up on everyone's activties as it was more than a year since we'd all been together. A most enjoyable experience.
Being a bit 'picky' we offer the following as constructive comments:
The chilli king prawns with stir fried veg were a bit too wet due to the quantity of sauce
The slow cooked lamb rather surprised those who ordered it as we had expected a 'chunk' of shoulder whereas it was served off the bone and shredded, in a large quantity of mild mint sauce.
The pulled pork was a little too sweet and the chocolate bread and butter pudding seemed to have lost the chocolate ingredient
We loved the caffetiere of decaffinated coffee and were delighted to see Sauvignon Blanc from Chile on the wind list.

Having not been to the Kilkeney for years, and hearing it was under new management, we stopped by for dinner last Wednesday evening. On walking in, it was a surprise to see so many people there mid-week. Despite this, there wasn't a particularly buzzing atmosphere. While I'm all for a quiet evening out sometimes, I found myself awkwardly talking in hushed tones for much of the evening. I'm opening with a negative, but have to say that this place has a lot going for it. The staff in particular are extremely professional, friendly and attentive. The decor is quite warm and modern, and it's lovely to look out on rolling fields. I had the barbecued pulled pork which was tasty, filling, and good value at £12. My partner had the steak, which was juicy, but in his view not as flavoursome as the steak he'd had in some other pubs. I thought it was a little pricey at £21, but he cleaned the plate with a smile. We will definitely return.

There was a group of seven of us celebrating a (30th) birthday and we had a thoroughly pleasant Sunday afternoon at The Kilkenny with mainly roast sunday lunch followed by desserts. The Chocolate dessert (see photo) was VERY chocolatty - giving rise to some food envy from those that didn't order it. This is not a gastro pub, more a friendly pub serving decent food. Patio garden looked nice as well.

We came across this delightful pub en route to Broadway.
It is beautifully cared for with a lovely patio and garden. It was raining so we couldn't sit out, but had the option of sitting in the old pub or a lovely conservatory.
We chose the old pub area and sat by the window. There was a collage of drawings and photos of the original owners circa 1904. The ambiance was cosy and welcoming.
There is an eclectic menu offering a mouth watering selection.
We chose the chicken liver and pistachio parfait and pulled pork wrap, both delicious and served to us by a very jolly young man!
The pub has been adapted for disabled too and though there are stairs inside for the conservatory, it is easily accessible from outside which has ramps.
Great find on the road.

his inn has had a chequered career over the last few years, but since it was taken over last summer by the current owner it is very good again. There is an excellent varied menu at reasonable prices. The owner is a horticulturist and has made the garden really attractive - a lovely place to sit out in the summer weather. The inn itself is in a lovely country setting, is good for walkers and all other travellers. A modern raised dining area is attractive or one can sit in the older original pub setting. Large free car park. Well recommended.

We have often passed this inn - which looks fairly straightforward from the outside - but travelling home last week we stopped for dinner and were truly impressed. There is a beautiful conservatory dining room to the rear with a terraced garden outside. The service was charming and cheerful from start to finish and the food was genuinely exceptional. My husband had the Indian Spiced Slow Cooked Chicken Pieces - which were mellow and beautifully spiced (yes I couldn't resist a taste) and served with a delicious peanut slaw and well cooked basmati rice. I had the Hot Smoked Salmon Salad which was also beautiful - the fish was fantastic, the asparagus beautifully cooked and warm salad was just right. The desserts were delicious too!

Couldn't fault it in any way. Fantastic staff, lovely place and awesome food. Went with my boyfriend who's a trained chef and it's the only time I've ever seen him eat absolutely everything off him plate. Many thanks, we will be coming back soon.

Fantastic warm welcome and very good quality food and drinks, with friendly family style service, well worth finding. Not expensive and freshly made local produce, relaxed and professional delivery.

Went on a friday evening with 2 without making a reservation.
Friendly welcome! The restaurant is nicely decorated, rather modern. Staff is friendly en helpfull.
We both ordered a starter: "Potted chicken liver" and a "Soup of the day". Good portions and good taste.
As main : "Thai Green Chicken Curry" and "Goats Cheese, Chestnut Mushroom & Spinach Pie". Again good portions and really a great taste. Also nicely presented on our dish.
The wine list is varied and fine.
Both menu's and wine's are very reasonabled priced!
I can recommend this restaurant.

Six of us found this a little by accident, and it proved to be a happy accident! The service was friendly and efficient, the food delicious! In fact so delicious we returned for a second meal. Meals tried ranged from risotto ( so beautifully cooked) to burgers (fresh) to pheasant. Our only regret was we didn't have time for a third visit to try the sticky toffee pudding. Gluten free was catered for as was vegetarian so we were all happy. Staff deserve a special mention as it's often hard to balance friendly and professional but they were good at it!

Last evening was the 2nd time I've visited the Kilkeny and would say it never fails to impress, great food and great atmosphere. Just what a local pub should be. The staff were friendly, engaging and very helpful, thank you once again The Kilkeny

My husband and I decided to take a trip out with our newborn on, what turned out to be, mothers day. We managed to wait a short while before we were seated though fully booked. The staff were very welcoming and the venue had clean baby changing facilities. The meal was scrumptious. Thanks. We'll definitely visit again x

A great pub oozing charm! Selection of food very good and decor lovely. Stayed in cottage in Foxcote so The Kilkeney was the obvious choice so all of us could drink without taking the car and it didn't disappoint! Breakfast was also on the menu for one of the visits! Hopefully will be back for the Cheltenham Festival next year when we will definitely return to this lovely Inn!

We went for Sunday lunch in the newly refurbed Kilkenny Inn, fantastic experience, great welcome and atmosphere, the Kilkenny is light and airy with a nice mix of traditional and modern decor.
Jools and the team were very attentive, we all chose the Sunday roast which I would highly recommend….tasty beef and my dad loved the sticky toffee pudding, one of the best he’s ever tasted…thanks Kev!!
We will be returning soon and think it’s a must for anyone, Mel, Mark & Brian.

Spotted this fine hostelry on the way to a business meeting in Cheltenham and stopped in on the way back to London.
I think we just squeezed in for lunch but there was no pressure
Service was fantastic friendly and timely. Very friendly staff too.
My food was delicious and the portions significant.
This is a beautifully maintained Pub and was spotlessly clean.
If passing again will be back.
Heartily recommended.

Had our wedding here yesterday and Jules and Kev were absolutely wonderful and so welcoming!! The food was incredible and everyone was so friendly. Absolutely no faults, amazing place and people.

They were so helpful and relaxed with things and the conservatory makes an amazing venue for your wedding breakfast and then cleared away, makes an amazing space for a DJ and dance floor.

Kevin and Jules took over this lovely country pub and restaurant at the end of August. (Earlier reviews should be ignored.) The new hosts have brought with them, from North Bedfordshire, expert cookery skills and a feeling for the customer. A wide variety of food available from lunchtime light bites to a full a la carte menu, all freshly cooked and good value for money. We look forward to visiting again... As often as possible!

We called in here for an impromptu dinner stop on the way to Moreton in Marsh. The menu is interesting, varied and reasonable. The staff and owners are delightfully charming and helpful. Can not recommended this highly enough.

We called and reserved a table for 5 on a Saturday Night and it was no problem for the Kilkenny.

We were greeted by name on arrival and the service just got better and better throughout the evening.

The food was exceptional, well cooked and presented.
We would recommend the steaks, prawn started and the soup was very tasty. The Sea Bass on a bed of seafood risotto was the creamiest I have ever had and retained all the seafood flavour. The warm rolls served before the meal were very welcomed by us all.

The new owners have done a great job at brightening up the interior and now just need to get more people in - we will definitely be visiting again, 10/10

We were a party of five having lunch after our walk. I'd rang beforehand to check if dogs are allowed (which they are) and they reserved a table for us. The service was excellent -very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and refreshingly different. We all chose different things and everybody enjoyed what they had to eat. Would highly recommend and will certainly return ourselves.
